Outstanding KICKSTART Placement for Craft Trainer / Demonstrator

Are you aged between 16 and 24?

Are you on Universal Credit?

Are you seeking a role in Textiles / Design?

Kickstart roles offers you the chance to learn new skills over a 6 month period and further develop your career, whilst working a minimum of 25 hours per week and being paid at least minimum wage.

We are supporting a KICKSTART placement for a Craft Trainer / Demonstrator

Cloth of Gold is a Haberdashery that is based on Royal Wootton Bassett High Street.  Trading for the past 34 years from the same premises and now under new ownership and taking the business in a new direction both retail face to face and on line!  The shop sells over 4000 products from materials, wools, cottons, sewing machines, buttons and anything to do with sewing and crafts. 

  • Giving 1:1 demonstrations on how to use specific equipment such as sewing machines
  • Showing groups of people how to sew or utilise your knitting, crochet and embroidery skills (you don’t need to have all of these but be really good at, at least one of them!).
  • Working with the social media/marketing team to put together on line content on “How to Sew”, How to put a Zip in or How to do a button hole etc.   Whatever your sewing or craft skill you can build content for social media!
  • The role will also entail sales within the shop and showing and discussion the items required for the customer.
  • This is a great opportunity for someone who has a passion for crafts and is looking to do this for their own career and to develop their own skills along with being supported and trained by the Owner. 

WHAT SKILLS/QUALITIES/EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED FOR THIS ROLE?

  • Good customer service skills
  • A Craft background in either: sewing, embroidery, knitting or crochet
  • Confident with demonstrating your skills
  • Good English Language skills
