Job Description

Wise Employment have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Office Manager with relevant administrative and financial skills. This will be a part time permanent role working 20 hours per week within a friendly, supportive charitable organisation based in Tavistock.

The Role

As Office Manager, you will be responsible for the administration and efficient running of the company in accordance with the policies, procedures and quality standards defined by the Executive. As appropriate you will work closely with the House Manager and the Trustees in achieving the aims. Some work will need to take place on site but also some can take place from home. The starting salary of £17 per hour for a 20-hour week is negotiable depending on experience.

The Candidate

We are looking for an ambitious, highly motivated person who has a desire to make a difference to the lives of older people and is looking for more than just a job working in a stimulating environment. You should be highly organised, adaptable, and able to work alone and should have the ability to multi-task. You must be experienced in administrative roles including finance, and be familiar with office procedures and systems. You will be computer literate with a working knowledge of Word, Excel and e mail and you must be able to demonstrate strong numeracy and literacy skills.

We require:

Good organising and problem solving skills and experience of dealing with the public.

Previous experience of using Sage software for payroll administration would be desirable.

Experience of effective budget management, using Excel accounting software.

Experience of Health and Safety and Fire Regulations including risk assessments would be desirable.

An enhanced DBS check and references.

Your main core responsibilities would include:

Managing all aspects of the company’s bank account.

Setting up payments to suppliers, recording expenditure, reconciling all bank and petty cash accounts.

Preparing draft annual budget and end of year accounts for audit.

Administrative input into staff recruitment process and subsequent management.

Administrative input into recruitment of new residents including tenancy agreement.

Arranging regular committee meetings and preparing agendas, papers and taking minutes.

Possibly preparing health and safety documentation and ensuring all staff are adequately trained and qualified.

Negotiating contracts for telephone, gas and electricity.

Ensuring adequate insurances are in place.

Part-time hours: 20 per week

Expected start date: 19/10/2020

Salary: From £17.00 per hour
